BICEDIE
ABOUT BICEDIE
The name BICEDIE is derived from two significant items in Ghanaian culture, as expressed in the Twi language: “BICI” meaning cola nut, and “CEDIE” meaning cowries.
In Ghanaian tradition, the cola nut is used to welcome guests into a household and is also an essential element during discussions among elders on important matters. It symbolizes hospitality and respect.
Historically, cowries were used as a medium of monetary transactions before the introduction of currency. They represent wealth and trade in the African context.
BICEDIE as our brand name encapsulates the rich cultural heritage and significant symbols of hospitality, respect, and economic history in Ghana. By integrating these elements, BICEDIE aims to bridge the international fashion market with the Ghanaian fashion scene. Our brand aspires to create fashion pieces that resonate with both local and global markets, promoting better trade and cultural exchange through fashion
